Eco challenge was a great success! I have been training for a half-marathon, and used it as a great excuse to go running / recovery walking in new places when the spring rain wasn't too bad. These walks have helped me reconnect with the nature in my local community, I have watched the greenery erupt over the past month here in Atlanta.

It has also helped me better place the importance of sustainability on a local level. By making Emerson's operations more sustainable, we each take personal accountability in making our own communities more enjoyable places to live.

Education & Livelihood Research Impact Investing
After learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?

I went through my various investment accounts - 401K & personal brokerage to analyze the environmental impact. The majority of my personal investments are targeted specifically at green energy businesses, so the impact there is minimal, but my 401K is loaded into a limited set of funds. Some of these funds are highly diversified which reduces personal risk, but significantly increases potential environmental impact of my investment. I have started some preliminary research into the efficacy of ESG ratings, to better guide investment decisions moving forward!

What did you think of the training? What new concepts did you learn?

A great introductory module! With a lot of the focus on the planet / energy, it can be easy to overlook the other critical elements of sustainability. We cannot make wholistic progress without focusing on all 3 pillars

How can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?
